Wind: growth that has found its rhythm. Long morning light, gradual increase, the direction the tradition associates with things accumulating slowly.

In the tradition

Xun is wind, or wood in its gentle phase: two solid lines above a broken one, movement that gets in everywhere. It is late spring, mid-morning and the eldest daughter. Where Zhen is the shock of beginning, Xun is patient continuation.

The association with wealth belongs to the Western bagua; it is a reading of Xun’s gradual accumulation, not a classical claim.

In the room

Southeast rooms get long, useful morning light and stay bright into early afternoon. They suit living rooms, kitchens and home offices. Wood’s verticality belongs here, and the tradition’s advice to keep the sector uncluttered and moving is, in practice, the advice to keep a good-lit room from filling up.

A geometric model, not a forecast: it assumes a clear sky and a flat horizon at 45° north, and it says nothing about qi. It is here because orientation is the one part of the tradition that can be drawn exactly.

The sun-path drawing and the hours of light are computed from a geometric model at 45° north (see the methodology page), not taken from any source; the directions' trigrams, elements and readings are the tradition's, as the manuals above give them.
